The idea of this project was to create something original and creative. It was designed for a client who wanted his own house. The project was completed in 2010. The living room that was initially designed as a large room is located in Valle de Bravo, Mexico. The living room is an ambitious project. It was the goal to design a room that would feel dynamic and creative.
The living room is basically comprised of two parts. A more intimate area has been created and this space is a neutral one, a black box with different layouts. During the day, the natural light gets through the completely white walls and the bedroom area looks quite spacious as well. Even though there’s no electricity, the room still functions perfectly. Mr. Irastorza was faced with some challenges during the design process. The biggest challenge was to find the right materials to use. The owner wanted something modern and new and yet traditional and popular.
There’s a musical theme throughout the house and it’s probably because of the piano that was incorporated in the design. The living room, the dining room and the bedrooms are all connected and part of a single large space. This area also includes a balcony, a bright yellow piece that definitely stands out. As for the furniture, it’s eclectic but very unique and modern. The warm tones, the irregular patterns and the contemporary and minimalist elements that complement them all these elements create a very dynamic and yet very inviting and cozy atmosphere.
