How would you imagine that a house made of shipping containers would look like? Probably not like these images, which capture rather than suggest an alternative lifestyle. This is a house made of two luxurious shipping containers. It was designed by Bell Airweight, a company founded in 2001 by Alexander Bell and David Anderson and it’s focused on creating luxurious and sustainable shipping container homes.
In a world where people are becoming more and more concerned about the environment and nature’s impact on our planet, shipping container homes are a really interesting and very appreciated element. The White House is the latest such project. This is a house that was built from two 40 foot shipping containers. It’s located in White Rock, Texas and it was designed by New Frontier Tiny Homes.
The house was constructed from four 40 foot steel containers suspended from septupled ceilings. The roofs are made of corrugated steel panels and stretch around the walls. The house offersorama and beautiful views of the surrounding area, even though it’s sandwiched between a large fir and grass forest.
The client bought one of these houses as a wedding gift. The couple wanted this to be their new home and they looked for inspiration in the local landscape and structures. They incorporated into the design a double-sided indoor-outdoor fireplace and they wanted a courtyard and a pool. They also looked for inspiration in the petrified forest and tried to capture the essence of the surroundings.
The interior design is peaceful and tranquil. The storefront is painted in pastel blues and turquoise and the interior is minimalist and focused on the concept of space, the flow of energy and everything related to it.
